We couldn't go to this part of South Dakota and not go to see Mount Rushmore. As we were walking up, I asked J "why these four presidents?" She didn't know either, and that was my one question I needed to have answered. My question was addressed in the exhibit, and I took photos below of the answer, in case you care to know as well. The exhibits also talked about the life of the sculptor and visionary of this endeavor: Gutzon Borglum. He oversaw the project from 1927 until his death in 1941. His son was working by his side and took over upon his father's death.
