While staying in South Joshua Tree, my mom and her partner flew over (in his private plane) from San Diego to visit us for the day. We met them at Chiriaco Airport, had lunch, and then went to Joshua Tree National Park. They only had a handful of hours, so we couldn't explore the entire park, but we did make it up to the Cholla Garden. Mike loves cactus gardens, so it was perfect to explore it with him.
I've been fascinated by this particular type of cactus because it is known as the "jumping cactus." Apparently if the wind blows hard enough, it can blow some of the bulbs right off of it and on to you! Or your dog... so be careful when you are near them!
