Manitoulin Island

Manitoulin Island is the largest island within a freshwater lake (Lake Huron) in the world. It has lakes within the island as well. Since we were camped close to it, we figured we'd better go check it out.

In the process of exploring, we found a great boondocking site. If you are interested, check out boondocking/campground reviews on the home page.

Throughout Canada, we continually saw the rainbow flag -- so often that we figured it had to mean something other than "gay rights" like it does in the US. However, it does, in fact mean the same thing! There's just a lot more support and acceptance in Canada than most other places. This flag was at a wharf side restaurant in a little town on the island -- not the kind of place we would have expected to see it!
