We spent the day in Wallace, which was part of the reason we stopped for a night between our trip from the Missoula area to Priest Lake. (It's a good thing we had an overnighter planned there, though, because our car's fuel and water separator got busted some how and dumped gasoline everywhere. Luckily it happened when we were parked! That could have been REALLY bad).
I wanted to see Wallace because I had read in a book that it was a super cool town with old architecture from different periods, and being in real estate for so long, architecture always interests me. It's also one of the only towns in the U.S. that is entirely on the National Register of Historic Places. The town didn't disappoint. And, apparently, it is the "Center of the Universe" so it must be visited by all!
