PALISADES RESERVOIR, IDAHO/WYOMING BORDER NEAR ALPINE, WYOMING: GPS 43.2461, -111.1078

We first scoped out this campsite in July of 2016. We didn't stay here then, but spent some time throwing the ball for Avery in the reservoir. We loved it and loved the boondocking site.

We were so excited to return, but when we got here the reservoir was extremely low and all that was there was sludge. It was disgusting. Apparently they are concerned about the water levels when the run-off happens, so they have prevented the water from filling the reservoir. Definitely check out this site before you come to see the water level: https://www.usbr.gov/pn/hydromet/burtea.html

If that website doesn't work, just google "Palisades Reservoir water level" and something about it should come up.

If the water was properly filled here, this is a fairly amazing site. Not a lot of privacy because it is so open, but very easy to navigate. The sites are right at the water's edge, more or less, so when the water is there you can imagine how nice it is.

One of the reasons we boondocked here was to use it as a launching spot to visit Grand Teton National Park which is about an hour away. Also, Jackson Hole is about 45 mins away, so it is a nice spot for touristy activities.
