I became a bit nervous about this campground when I read negative reviews after booking it. One reviewer said the lake "smelled like doo" and was brown.
The lake did have a brown tinge to it, and was much more "mucky" than some of the other lakes we've been to. However, it did NOT smell like doo ;) ! So that's good!
Avery loved it and spent plenty of time at the mucky shoreline.
The bathrooms varied in their niceness. The one by the dump station seemed to be the best. The one near our campsite (#51 - huge pull through) was extremely dirty the first few days. Once it was cleaned it was better, but it seemed to be stained from the reddish "muck" and always looked dirty. The showers at this bathroom sucked, but at the dump station they weren't too bad.
The dump station is run by an outside company and they charge $5 for it whether you are staying there or not. On top of that, it didn't work for us. The digital display kept saying "waiting" but never activated the lid on the sewer area.
On the positive side, it was empty which is always nice. The pull-throughs in the 50s area are massive. Anyone who can't park here shouldn't be driving an RV!
The other pull-throughs (in the 20s I believe) would have been plenty big enough, although there were more people there than in our area, so I'm glad we were in the massive ones.
There is also sandy beach camping for $20. No ramada's there though, so in the summer your only shade would be your personal awning or other canopies.
