Lone Rock Boondocking

The views from this location are phenomenal. Beautiful water, nice sand, pretty mountains/cliffs in the backdrop.

But re-read the above and see that I said "nice sand". This also means you have to drive in the sand quite a bit in order to get to the nice spots down by the lake. If you don't have good traction, good tires, 4 wheel drive and good clearance, I personally wouldn't take on the sand. I confess I am conservative about this, but we did see two vehicles (one RV and one truck) stuck in the sand and struggling to get out. At the same time, however, there were a number of RVs that were parked along the water's edge that looked perfectly fine and not entrenched in the sand.

As I recall, there are drop toilets at the roadside before you head down into the sand, but I can't remember for sure.

This location is near Escalante, the Upper and Lower Antelope Canyons, Horseshoe Point, and the Glen Canyon Dam, so it's in a great spot.
