LAKE POWHATAN RECREATIONAL AREA, PISGAH NATIONAL FOREST, NEAR ASHEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA: GPS 35.4883° N, 82.6289° W
This campground is near Asheville (10-15 mins). It is in a great location with close proximity to town.
There are nice bathrooms but only a couple (they are all private stalls).
The free showers are clean but there is not great water pressure.
The sites are very clean. The campground workers swept and raked and used a leaf blower every time a campsite was vacated.
The camp host was super nice and accomodating.
There were really nice sites. Lakeside Loop has utilities and is paved. Big John Loop is gravel and has no utilities (I think). Both areas are nice.
There is only one bathroom per loop and it was positioned in the middle of the loop with only two private toilet stalls and two private showers. This was no problem in the off season but not sure about during the peak.
There are nice trails for walking and lots of mountain biking trails.
Cell was not great. AT&T was better than VERIZON but neither were very good. We got a few tv channels.
