We initially rated high because of our experience in October. We had been told the summer is known to be buggy and busy. We had no bugs, and no one around, so it was fabulous. The views were beautiful. We had no idea what Antelope Island would be like and were extremely pleasantly surprised.
UPDATE: We returned in April/May and found the no-see-ums had just hatched. We've never seen so many bugs! Whenever we went outside we wore hoodies and sprayed liberally with bug spray and still left there with about 40 bites a piece. They literally swarmed you. It was insane. We will NEVER return there during bug season, but I do still feel the Winter warrants a very high rating.
The campsites had really nice above-ground firepits, covered tables, concrete and graveled pads for parking and for the firepit/table. Super nice set up!
The visitor's center had lots of great info. There were nice hikes. There were coin-operated showers (not on this campground but at a neighboring one on the island). The showers were about $2 for 15 minutes.
The bison were fun to watch, and the harder-to-spot antelope were a thrill to see.
